As its name suggests, this flower has leaves that are notably smooth with a unique pale purple flower. It grows to be a relatively tall and shrubby perennial and can be cut back to produce shorter blooms. This flower blooms in the late summer and into the early fall. Drought tolerant. Smooth Blue Aster (Symphyotrichum laeve) prefers sunny locations and well-drained soil.
