Butterfly Milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is noteworthy for its beautiful bright orange flowers that form in showy clusters. Essential for the survival of the Monarch butterfly, it is the only plant the Monarch caterpillar is able to live off. Take a look for caterpillars hanging out on your plant in spring and summer. This plant prefers dry, sandy soil and does not like to be moved once it is established. Drought tolerant and deer resistant.
