Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata) is a tall wildflower boasting small, bright red-purple flowers. As an essential plant for the Monarch butterfly’s survival, and supporting other insects like bees and ladybugs, this milkweed would make a great addition to an aquatic garden. Preferring moist and muddy soil, this plant is found naturally in marshes, swamps, wet meadows, and along the edge of streams and ponds. Thrives in full sun, while tolerating some shade, this plant can thrive in a wide range of soils.
