This beautiful, low-growing evergreen shrub makes an excellent alternative ground cover (only in areas of low to no foot traffic). Blue-green needles form a gorgeous mat during growing season, and foliage takes on a purple hue in the winter. Drought tolerant (once established) and a lover of full sun. It tolerates a wide range of soil types but prefers sandy or rocky, medium moisture, well-draining soils.
It is a low maintenance shrub once established and does not have any complicated care requirements. Many birds eat the dark blue berries. Great for rock gardens, retaining wall edges, and other hot, dry garden spots.
