This species can be a prolific bloomer, boasting cute yellow, button-shaped flowers, which bring weeks of colour in late summer and fall, when many other perennials blooms have started to fade. It is commonly called "Sneezeweed" due to the historical use of its dried leaves in making snuff (which was inhaled to help sneeze and "rid the body of evil spirits"). However, we prefer the name Dogtooth Daisy as the pollen of this species is not a cause of seasonal allergies!

Dogtooth Daisy is very tolerant of water, so it would make an excellent choice for a rain garden and is often found along ponds or streams in the wild. This is a taller wildflower, and as such would be an excellent choice for the back of your garden bed. A great companion plant of Joe Pye, which is also a tall species that thrives in moist conditions.
