Plant in 2.5 x 2.5 x 3.5 inch plastic pot

A tall perennial that grows into a shrub-like shape. Unlike other perennials that tend to look weedy after blooming, this plant maintains a nice shape and healthy looking foliage until the end of the season. Easy to maintain and adapts well to a variety of soil conditions. Blooms often do not appear until the second or third year of establishment as it spends the first few years developing below ground. Often one of the first to flower in the spring, and then provides beautiful greenery in the summer.

While this plant is designated by VASCAN as introduced to Ontario, it is considered a near native plant to many plant professionals in the nursery industry in Southern Ontario. The native range is the north-eastern United States, which is right on the border of Southern Ontario. Blue Wild Indigo is valuable to local wildlife and grows well with other native plants. Many local conservation groups and ecological landscaping companies use this species in restoration planting and for other gardening purposes.
