Enjoy a pretty ball of star-like white flowers blooming in mid-summer. The delicate hanging flowers reflect the name "nodding" onion. This species is best planted in clusters. Its flowers are pollinated by small short-tongued bees. Nodding Onion prefers full sun locations and to be grown with other plants of similar size or non-competitive nature.
Eating bulbs and leaves raw in large quantities is not recommended, but they do make an excellent seasoning in cooked food. This plant dies back to a bulb in the late summer.
