A shrub with many attractive features, one of the most well-known being its rich, dark berries. The black berries hang in heavy clumps and are best picked when ripe after a frost. The berries are commonly used in jams or jellies because of their high pectin levels. White blooms appear in the late spring, contrasting the glossy, dark green leaves. Foliage turns a vibrant red and orange in the fall season. Because it is seen as a smaller shrub it is a popular choice for gardens that do not have much space. Black Chokeberry is tolerant of a wide range of soil and moisture conditions.
