Golden Alexanders (Zizia aurea) is easy to grow and low maintenance. With delicate and dainty yellow flowers, this perennial is the host plant for the Black Swallowtail butterfly caterpillar, and is a food source for many pollinators. Thriving in full sun to part shade, it prefers medium to moist soil, and can be found in woodlands, moist prairies, near stream banks, and floodplains. This plant would do well in a rain garden, and an area adjacent to water.
