As an easy to grow wildflower, Culver’s Root (Veronicastrum virginicum) can help create a garden border or fill in your prairie garden. Thrives in moist soils in part to full sun, with plants flopping in too much shade. Tall and striking, with slender spikes of small star shaped flowers, set against dark foliage in a candelabra shape, that attract pollinators in summer. Flowers can be deadheaded to extend bloom time and stems cut back to encourage basal growth after flowering ends. Will work in a moist prairie or rain garden setting. Long lived perennial, but may take a few years to establish.
