This climbing shrub is noteworthy for its striking pink blossoms, vibrant fall colour, and red rosehips. Climbing Prairie Rose (Rosa setigera) has a classic rose scent, blooming in late spring to early summer. In fall, the leaves transition to shades of deep red and purple. The flowers of this plant attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators. Small mammals such as chipmunks and rabbits feed on its rosehips in the fall and winter. Due to its climbing nature, it is ideal for fences, arbors, and walls. Tolerating a wide range of conditions, this climber prefers dry to medium, well draining soil, and thrives in full sun with some shade.
