Wood’s Sedge (Carex woodii) is a low and slow growing woodland sedge that prefers partial to full shade and moist soil. As a cool climate species that can tolerate a range of conditions, this plant grows best in lower temperatures and would do well in a shaded garden. Another common name for this sedge is Pretty Sedge, due to its attractive, fine textured foliage. Producing subtle, yellowish green flower spikes at the beginning of the season, it is a versatile ground cover that can be used as a lawn substitute, as it tolerates mowing.
