Whorled Milkweed (Asclepias verticillata) attracts many pollinators, and is the host plant for the endangered Monarch butterfly. Blooming later than other Milkweeds (through to September), this plant boasts beautiful white flowers and narrow, whorled leaves. This Milkweed prefers sandy and gravelly well draining soils, is resistant to both deer and rabbits, and is drought tolerant once it is established. Forming slender seed pods later in the growing season, the leaves turn a yellow and orange in the fall. This plant would do well in a rock garden, and combines well with plants of a lower stature.
