Lovely spring ephemeral to enjoy after a long winter. Dark purple foliage emerges and quickly turns green. A clump-forming perennial that will grow quickly in fertile and moist soil. Pink buds turn into dark blue trumpet flowers in early spring. Enjoy bees and butterflies flocking to this pretty flower.
Prefers part to full shade and works well as a border plant or in rock or woodland gardens. Planting underneath shrubs or trees where soil is fertile is another option. Ensure other plantings nearby to fill in the space when it goes dormant in summer. Can tolerate dry soils when dormant.
