Similar species to Spotted Joe Pye in growth and requirements, but Sweet Joe Pye is tolerant of shade. Pink blooms emerge later in fall on top of seven foot stems. Vanilla-scented flowers attract monarchs, swallowtails, and other butterflies.  Height and spread make this plant perfect for a border or the back of a garden. Prefers medium to moist loam soil, but it more particular about moisture than soil type.
