A beautiful shade tree that grows fairly quickly and can live anywhere from 250 to 500 years. Like Bur Oak, this species is fairly tolerant of some salt and air pollution, making it a good choice for urban areas. Its leaves are deep green and turn bright red to brown in the fall. Sandy loam soil is ideal for this tree, as well as full sunlight. Its acorns are not edible.
