One of the slower growing oaks, but a good choice for urban areas as it is quite tolerant of heavy air pollution. Adapts to a wide variety of soil types including clay, but prefers loamy soils in sunny locations. Make sure you have a lot of space for this oak as the roots are very competitive. This tree creates a wonderful shade canopy if given plenty of space to grow. It boasts bright fall colors. The acorns are edible and sweet and can be ground into flour to make bread.
We also sell Red Oak.
