Description

A beautiful mid-sized tree that will create lovely white blooms in the spring. Produces small and edible fruits that are sour when raw but make great preserves. The non-fruit parts of the tree are toxic and inedible. Lives only 40 years but will grow quickly and can spread through suckers. Produces a lot of fruit once mature, providing a food source for birds and other animals in the late summer, which is why this tree is also known as the Bird Cherry. Prefers dry to medium sandy soil.
