Description

An adaptable wildflower that flourishes in well-drained soil and even clay soil. Small, white flowers bloom in summer. Can handle periods of colder temperatures and drought. Attracts hosts of bees each spring, along with butterflies and hummingbirds. Called a “beard tongue” because the sterile stamen has a tuft of hairs.

While this plant is designated by VASCAN as introduced to Ontario, it is considered a near native plant to many plant professionals in the nursery industry in Southern Ontario.
