Low maintenance shrub that grows well in part shade and moderate moisture. Grows a few feet taller than the kalmianum species. Bright yellow, mid-summer blooms are extremely attractive to pollinators, especially Bumblebees. They can grow in almost any soil condition as long as it is well-drained. Prune early in the spring to see new growth. Deer and rabbit resistant due to toxic substances in its tissues. Host plant for caterpillars and very attractive to a diverse set of pollinators. Bees are especially attracted to the bright yellow flowers.
